After getting into depth in My Sister's Keeper I've began to enjoy the book. There are a few things that disappoint me. The major thing that annoys me is that it seems to be all about Kate. Sara only seems to care about Kate not Jesse nor Anna. Secondly is that Brian always goes to work and fights fires as a way just to not deal with everything going on at home. Finally Jesse, Jesse is an uncontrollable kid. He does things that most other kids his age don't do. Things like making his own moonshine and driving recklessly whenever he's driving a vehicle. Yet all these things that he should be dissaplined about Sara nor Brian do anything about it.
My Sister's Keeper Pages 72-138
I have a question, why does Sara look at Kate as her one and only?
Anna should have a choice of what she has to do medically its her own body. Having a kidney removed is a big deal. The situation for Anna is very difficult. If she disagrees with a procedure it could cost Kate's life if she goes through with a procedure it could possibly risk hers. The court should just allow Anna to do what she really wants. As hard as it would be for Anna to be removed from the home it is best for the situation for court because as soon as they came home from the trial Sara degraded Anna. To tell Kate that she's going to die and that its Anna's fault is uncalled for. A real mother would never say such a thing about her own daughter.
My Sister's Keeper Pages 140-240
As much as i disliked Sara before I am starting to feel a little sorry for her. Reasons being that she is loosing both of her daughters. Kate is dying and Anna is unsure of her feelings about the lawsuit. That is aggrivating me now. Its been a while since she made up her deciocion to prance into the office and confront Campbell. She needs to find out what she really wants for herself. I find it hard to believe how Jesse makes it in the family. There is so many emotions in the family yet all that he does; he keeps on going and the parents just seem used to it. Everyone in the family needs to start thinking about what they need to do to keep the family going strong.
My sister's Keeper Pages 240-340
Jesse always seems to find a way to get himself in trouble. This time aroundI feel that hes luvcky that hes not in deep deep trouble with the law. After Brian had to leave the court house to go to a fire he had stopped back at the Jesse's Apartment. I couldnt imagine what was running through Brian's head as he was driving back to his house from the fire once he realized it was Jesse all along. Im sure Jesse never thought that he would ever get caught since he had been setting many fires and getting away. I think it was smart for Brian not to tell his fire chief or the police. If he had done so Jesse would most likely be facing charges of some sort. That would only add more drama to the situation at home. I think that Brian delt with this situation very well.
Grave of the Fireflies
I found this to be an excellent movie. Even though it was a cartoon it got the message across. The hardships faced by the Japanese during the war were unbearable. Other than many people dying in the war and by air raids, but also afterward with the high amounts of starvation. This movie touches every part of your heart. It makes you laugh, be suspenseful, and then produces sadness. I chuckled at parts of the movie having to do with the little sister's actions. During the air raids and especially the first one it became suspenseful. I worried if the two siblings would get away uninjured when they were already late to be in the shelter. It got depressing at times in the movie. When the aunt became so rude and disrespectful of the brother and sister who had lost their mother and their father was at war, it seemed so unnatural of a aunt to act. As the two tried to live on their own and to watch them starve touched me. I can't stand to see children die of simply not able to scrummage around to get enough food to survive. This movie is an amazing movie and i totally recommend anyone to watch this.
Hiroshima
After just reading the first chapter of this book I realized something very important. Pertaining to sentence before, I could relate any other city's lifestyle to be similar to the one in Japan. People carrying on with everyday chores, errands, work and enjoying the environment around them except living with fear. Constant air raid alarms and bombings give life an edge. Precautionary evacuations and gathering at the local shelters get annoying but part of life. A life many have not dealt with. I could never imagine what it would had been like to see a flash, get knocked down and then see everything that was around you just in ruble. This book will lead to a better understanding of the Japanese survivors of the A-Bomb.
Hiroshima 2
There seems to be a point in time when everyone in a community or everyone in a certain country unite. When ever there is a national disaster or terrorist attack. Examples can be the destruction of the World Trade Centers in NYC. Everyone united together to try and help the people in the towers and the loved ones who knew anyone who died that day. In Hiroshima, people from different towns outside the major city. The priests from all over tried to find each other to go as a group to help ones in need. Doctors ran all over with very little sleep to try and save the badly burned and wounded civilians. Things like that create unity that is almost impossible to break.
The Sea and Poison
First off its amazing how some people think. After getting into this book i came to realize mind concepts from a different country in an different time frame. The Japanese always seemed to lean more towards herbal medicine in my mind, but this book shows the opposite. Cutting someone open while they are still alive just to see how long an individual can survive with a part of lung missing, how much salt can be absorbed in the blood stream. This idealism shocks me. Then we discussed it in class now i can't agree and disagree. Benefits are obvious, you can learn human body toleration and in a cruel way, come up with new tortures.
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for A Hat
This was very interesting to read. I found it amusing in all aspects. Not once did i become bored and it was explained very well for only being mere ten pages long. Being unable to see left seems not to be logical to any normal person, but to think about the lifestyle without that point of view things could almost seem impossible. If you think about not being able to read one half of a book in from of you. being unable to find your own shoes if to your left in the corner. Having to add the extra effort to spin all the way around just to find them. Im looking forward to reading more clinical observations from this book.
The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-Time After completing this book in three days I can say i really enjoyed this novel. It was something different from what I would usually be interested in but I'm assuming since it was written in a easy to read manner that it kept my interest. I can that since there weren't chapters as in 1, 2, 3, ect, but that he only used prime numbers made it different from other novels also the layout and as you could say "cliff hangers" made me want to read more. Christopher made lots of peoples lives a hassle, but it seemed to be that he hadn't noticed what he had done. Leaving his father's home to go all the way to London was insane. He had never been there alone, didn't know where his local train station was off the top of his head, really didn't get around the station as easily as he thought he would had. He made the policeman struggle when he lost him in the train. He surely surprised his mother and Mr. Shears when he showed up out of the blue. Other than hassling people he caused confrontation between people. Mostly between his mother and Mr. Shears and then his mother and father. He did this by traveling there alone but also when Christopher and his mother had no other option to go back to the father's house once mother and Mr. Shears got into a big argument over Chris. I'd also like to add that this book made me think of the logic put into some mathematical equations and other basic logical thinking. This novel was great to read and I'm glad I was able to absorb it within a few days so that I wouldn't forget things over long spans of time.
